Indiana Ham Radio Nets

๐Ÿ“… See the weekly Indiana net schedule โ€” every net organized by day and time.

A "net" (short for network) is a scheduled on-air gathering of amateur radio operators who meet on an agreed frequency or digital talkgroup at a set time. A station called the Net Control Station (NCS) directs the contact, taking check-ins one at a time. Nets are used to pass formal message traffic, share information, practice emergency communication, or simply socialize. The nets below are statewide or section-wide in scope. Local and county VHF/UHF repeater nets are listed on each individual county page (see the county map below).

Statewide & Section Nets

Times shown are Eastern Time (most of Indiana observes Eastern Time). Schedules and frequencies can change โ€” always confirm with the authoritative source linked at the bottom of this page before relying on a net.

A note on a few of these: the Indiana Section CW Net (QIN) is listed by the ARRL Indiana Section as a daily evening session at 8:00 PM ET on 3.535 MHz; a long-running morning QIN session at 8:00 AM ET is also widely published by traffic handlers. The Indiana Digital Traffic Net (IDTN) uses Olivia/MFSK digital modes near 3.576 MHz (winter) / 7.080 MHz (summer) but has at times been marked temporarily inactive on the section site โ€” check before counting on it. The Indiana Statewide DMR Information Net on Talkgroup 3118 is reachable across BrandMeister, Crossroads, and other linked DMR networks. Talkgroup 3118 is the preferred talkgroup for wide-area DMR within Indiana. The exact D-STAR reflector/module for the statewide D-STAR net has changed over the years โ€” confirm the current reflector on the D-STAR Info net list before connecting.

Because traffic-net and digital-net schedules are occasionally adjusted, the authoritative listings are maintained by the ARRL Indiana Section. Confirm any net before counting on it for an on-air contact.

Find Local Nets

Most day-to-day activity happens on local VHF/UHF repeater nets run by clubs in your area. To find one near you:

  • Browse the clubs directory โ€” many clubs run a weekly net on their home repeater, and county pages list the local nets active in each area.
  • Use the county map โ€” each county page lists the local nets active in that area.
  • See the repeaters page for the major linked systems (such as the W9WIN Linked Repeater System covering much of central and southern Indiana) that carry wide-area nets.
  • For digital-voice nets, see digital modes โ€” it covers DMR, D-STAR, System Fusion, and the Indiana networks that host them.
  • Emergency-service nets (ARES, RACES, Skywarn) are covered on the emergency communications page.
