Three things, in the order people come looking for them: what is happening in Indiana amateur radio soon, the few dates worth building a year around, and where to look for everything else. Every date here is rendered from the same data this site publishes and feeds, so nothing on the page can quietly go stale.

  • All 9 Indiana hamfests with a confirmed date — venues, hours, admission, talk-in and VE testing for each.
  • License exam sessions — Indiana teams post and cancel sessions constantly, so that page searches the live session data by ZIP code and radius instead of repeating a list here that would be wrong within the week.
  • Nets for the weekly on-air schedule, and the clubs directory for club meetings, which most clubs post on their own sites.

Dates worth knowing

Not a calendar — a calendar is the next section's job and other people already do it better. These are the handful of events an Indiana ham plans a year around. Where a date is marked expected, the sponsor has not posted that running yet and the date is the recurrence rule carried forward.

  • Indiana QSO PartyFirst Saturday in May

    May 1–2, 2027

    Confirmed directly on the Hoosier DX and Contest Club's own INQP page, which also carries May 6–7, 2028 and May 5–6, 2029. Contest hours are 1500 UTC Saturday to 0259 UTC Sunday (2026 ran May 2–3); the Wabash Valley club's INQP page states the same first-Saturday rule.

  • ARRL Field Day4th full weekend of June

    Jun 26–27, 2027 expected

    1800 UTC Saturday to 2059 UTC Sunday. ARRL's page has not rolled over from the June 27–28, 2026 running yet, so these dates are the recurrence rule applied to next year rather than a posted date. Indiana clubs all operate this one national event — ask yours where its site will be.

Special event stations — the temporary callsigns that commemorate an anniversary, a landmark or a local celebration — come and go too quickly for any list on this site to be worth trusting. ARRL keeps the running one, month by month, in its special event stations database.

Where to look for the rest

Contests: the WA7BNM Contest Calendar lists every HF and VHF contest from sponsors around the world, with rules, exchange and log deadlines for each. It is comprehensive and kept current, and a partial copy here would only be a worse version that rots — so we point at it, the same way the repeater pages point at the Indiana Repeater Council. ARRL's own contest calendar covers the ARRL events specifically.

  • Hamfests & conventions: the live ARRL hamfest calendar — filter to Indiana or the Central Division. Our hamfests page adds the venue, admission and talk-in detail ARRL's records do not carry.
  • Exam sessions: HamStudy and the ARRL exam finder, both searchable by ZIP code or state. Check the individual listing for whether the team takes walk-ins and what it charges before you make the drive.
  • Parks on the Air: activations happen somewhere in Indiana most days — see POTA in Indiana.
  • Skywarn training and emergency exercises: your local National Weather Service office sets the spotter-training schedule; see EmComm for how Indiana ARES fits together.
