Indiana Ham Radio Nets

A "net" (short for network) is a scheduled on-air gathering of amateur radio operators who meet on an agreed frequency or digital talkgroup at a set time. A station called the Net Control Station (NCS) directs the contact, taking check-ins one at a time. Nets are used to pass formal message traffic, share information, practice emergency communication, or simply socialize.

Every Indiana net we know of is on this page. The HF nets are listed below, because HF is the one band where the whole state is in range. Everything else — the VHF and UHF repeater nets that make up most of the week — you find by distance: search by ZIP code or county.

📅 Prefer a calendar? See the weekly Indiana net schedule — every net, statewide and local, organized by day and time.

Find a net near you

Local nets are the ones you will actually check into on a weeknight. Search by ZIP code, or pick your county if you would rather. Results are sorted by distance, nearest first, and reach across county lines — a repeater two counties over is often a better signal than the one at home.

All 181 local nets, by county. Enter a ZIP code, or pick a county, to sort them by distance from you instead.

Statewide HF nets

These are the statewide list because of physics, not policy. An 80 meter signal refracts off the ionosphere and comes back down across the whole state, so a net on 3.5 or 3.9 MHz can be checked into from Hammond or from Evansville. A repeater net cannot — it covers the counties its antenna reaches and no more, which is why the rest of Indiana's nets are found by distance in the search above.

Times shown are Eastern Time (most of Indiana observes Eastern Time). Schedules and frequencies change — confirm with the sponsoring club or the ARRL Indiana Section before counting on a net.

Statewide nets on linked networks

These meet on a talkgroup or reflector rather than a frequency. The network does the reaching, so like the HF nets they are open to the whole state — from any repeater or hotspot connected to it.

A note on a few of these

The Indiana Section CW Net (QIN) is listed by the ARRL Indiana Section as a daily evening session at 8:00 PM ET on 3.535 MHz; a long-running morning QIN session at 8:00 AM ET is also widely published by traffic handlers. The Indiana Digital Traffic Net (IDTN) uses Olivia/MFSK digital modes near 3.576 MHz (winter) / 7.080 MHz (summer) but has at times been marked temporarily inactive on the section site — check before counting on it. The Indiana Statewide DMR Information Net on Talkgroup 3118 is reachable across BrandMeister, Crossroads, and other linked DMR networks. Talkgroup 3118 is the preferred talkgroup for wide-area DMR within Indiana. The exact D-STAR reflector/module for the statewide D-STAR net has changed over the years — confirm the current reflector on the D-STAR Info net list before connecting.

Where this list comes from

Nets are compiled from what clubs publish about their own nets — a club is the authority on its own affairs — and every entry in the data file says where it came from. A source and sourceUrl name somebody else's publication: the club that runs the net, or the club that lists it. A transcribedFrom means something weaker and says so — that the entry was copied from a page of this site, back when each county page carried its own nets, and has not been checked against the club since. This site is never a source for itself.

Several of the East Central Indiana nets come from the Muncie Area Amateur Radio Club's Area Nets page, which the club maintains for about ten counties around Muncie. The statewide HF nets come from the ARRL Indiana Section's own net list.
